My Name is Mike Bate And I am a marketing consultant and freelance copywriter, based in the wilds of cheshire - England.

I am also a direct marketer , niche internet marketer and and “direct marketing conversion expert” which means I sell products of my own with the internet, print advertising and letter mailing.

From the beginning!
Climbing the corporate ladder..
After a period of climbing the ranks in large companies- I became a consultant to many of Britains big blue chip companies - all house hold names - identifying systems and improvements which could enhance their profits.
I also helped many smaller ones! - And I discovered that I much preferred helping the small companies to get off the ground , than I eved did helping big ones get bigger. Entrepreneurs and business owners were my kind of people!
So It was only a matter of time before:
I started out on my own!
So I started a number of businesses both on my own and also with others

That company managed to sell equipment to almost every WORLD site of one of the leading glass companies! Quite an achievement for a tiny business.
Since then I have also started businesses in emerging technologies, for example one now selling telecomms equipment into china.
I Also started service businesses to both public and private customers - within a year of starting an electrical testing company - I had 3 councils, 4 colleges and hospitals on my books!
For a period I also owned a retail business! So I can relate to most of what people tell me about ANY business. I have rapidly established client bases amongst public, private and consumers
I get a thrill out of helping startups companies too
For a brief period I even helped university spinouts to become serious companies
And that experience proved I could no longer work for anyone else in the process!I
I have won several business awards along the way …from Sir John Harvey Jones and Lord David Puttnam ( shameless namedropping I know!)
I have helped to plan businesses in order to get funding for them For example in recent times I helped to raise Millions to establish the biopharrm company.

A large public/private partnership - I have also helped smaller companies funding applications too! - in fact my funding applications have (almost) a 100% success rate - which includes several SMART applications.
What I eventually realised was that:
My passion is Marketing and Copywriting
Deep down I realised - Those other businesses were just a means to indulge my favourite passions which are marketing, copywriting, and advertising. Loved starting them. HATED running them.
And simple things that can multiply web sales dramaticaly!I am happy to talk marketing any time!
And whilst most of my time is spent on my own websites which I dont advertise to avoid inviting competition!) I still do some consultancy - because I enjoy it!
